Monterro launches Monterro Enclave, a shared European AI infrastructure platform

Enclave
Gustav Lagercrantz, CEO, Monterro

Monterro, the leading European software growth investor, continues to invest in the software eco system and today announced it will offer a shared AI infrastructure platform (LLM infrastructure-as-a-Service) for its portfolio companies, providing a European alternative to the large tech providers that currently dominate AI infrastructure. The service is called Monterro Enclave and combines lower, more predictable operating costs, full data sovereignty and flexible access to leading AI models.

The platform runs entirely on European-owned and hosted infrastructure. Portfolio companies gain access to leading LLM models through a single API, without negotiating separate vendor agreements. Data remains within the controlled environment, with predictable costs and no per-token fees that increase as usage grows.

The offering is part of Infuse AI, Monterro’s AI offering to help companies thrive in the AI era.

"Every European software company faces the same challenges: rising token costs, deep dependency on US cloud providers, and growing pressure on data sovereignty for regulatory and security reasons. Most companies are tackling these issues individually. We think that's the wrong approach." says Gustav Lagercrantz, CEO of Monterro.

For software entrepreneurs partnering with Monterro this means:

Cost efficiency. Fixed infrastructure cost replaces per-token API spend. As AI usage grows across products and workflows, the cost stays flat until capacity needs to scale. Portfolio companies access the AI infrastructure at cost.

Data sovereignty. In Monterro Enclave AI processing runs entirely on EU infrastructure, under European ownership. No data leaves the controlled environment. This goes in line with the European Commission's proposed Cloud and AI Development Act (CADA). For companies selling to banks, insurers, pharma and government, this is a credible answer to the questions procurement teams are increasingly asking.

No LLM model lock-in. The platform is model-agnostic. No single model is best at everything. One model may plan well, another may write well, another may verify the work of the first two. The platform routes the right task to the right model, combines outputs, enforces policy and recovers when one fails. Portfolio companies get this without managing the underlying complexity.

The model-agnostic architecture also reduces strategic dependency on any single AI infrastructure provider. As governments increasingly use export controls and regulatory measures to restrict access to advanced AI technologies, sometimes on short notice, software companies built around a single proprietary model face growing operational risk. Monterro's platform allows portfolio companies to switch underlying models without disrupting their integrations.
The initiative reflects Monterro's broader approach to value creation: providing software entrepreneurs not only with capital, but also with hands-on support and shared capabilities that help them scale faster and compete more effectively in the AI era.

“AI infrastructure is becoming as fundamental to software companies as cloud infrastructure was a decade ago. We believe it should be treated as a shared strategic capability, not a problem every portfolio company must solve alone.” Gustav Lagercrantz ends.
